X-Bionic Thermosyphon
Thermosyphon Launch Film
Specialists in high-performance base layers and apparel, X-Bionic engineers sportswear to sustain a core body temperature of 37°C, supporting runners, skiers, and cyclists with advanced thermoregulation. As part of the company’s wider rebrand, we developed a motion sequence that showcases the intelligence behind its base-layer technology.

Patented 3D Bionic Sphere® technology and scientific research to enhance performance.
Known for “turning sweat into energy,” Swiss-engineered sports apparel brand X-Bionic uses 3D Bionic Sphere® technology and scientific research to enhance performance. Their advanced, patented technology, X-Bionic ThermoSyphon®, is integrated into base layers. Using a network of complex air channels, it actively manages sweat, heat, and airflow – cooling during exertion and insulating at rest – to maintain an optimal body temperature of 37 °C, thereby improving athletic performance.
Accurately depicting the garments’ intricate 3D-knit structures.
Tasked with creating engaging content that showcased this technology, we translated the material’s complex, reactive behaviour into a clear, intuitive visual narrative that could be understood in seconds, without diluting the underlying science.
From bespoke patterns and sculptural forms to integrated air channels produced by advanced knitting machines, every detail needed to feel technically accurate and visually compelling whilst aligning with X-Bionic’s wider rebrand.

Development Process

Mapping the Knit Structure
To understand the material’s ‘sweat management’ capabilities – from its weave patterns and 3D-knitted sculptural forms, to the behaviour of moisture within the structure – the team was briefed by X-Bionic’s technical specialists and tested the products firsthand.
We translated these insights into detailed CGI builds of the knit structures, developing high-fidelity simulations of the weave and construction – supported by accurate visualisations of the fabric surfaces and textures.
Visualising Heat, Sweat, and Flow
Our custom animations demonstrated thermoregulation in motion, showing moisture flow, material flexibility, and key moments in the production process.
This required high-resolution custom textures of the weave, created using macro photography and technical diagrams of the yarn and knit construction. The knit was intricately emulated in Houdini to produce a fluid knit animation.
From Surface to Structure
We then modelled the sculpted, three-dimensional form of the fabric as a repeatable, seamless block of geometry, allowing the knitting simulation to be applied across the base form and delivering an accurate, dynamic animation with hyper-real detail.
A Bold, High-impact Finish
To complete the process, we simulated the same base form to create sequences of free-flowing, aerodynamic movement – packaged in a bold, dynamic aesthetic that reflects the product’s sophisticated, groundbreaking nature.
