FIGS FORMx
FormX Fabric Launch
FIGS is a leading healthcare apparel and lifestyle brand known for its stylish, functional designs. For the launch of FORMx – their new fabric technology engineered specifically for healthcare professionals – FIGS commissioned Bolder to produce a suite of CGI shots that could partner with the live-action campaign film. Our role was to match the film’s aesthetic, lighting, and styling, while bringing the fabric’s unique properties into sharper focus.

A CGI motion language interwoven with live action
FORMx combines a fine technical weave, antistatic properties, four-way stretch and moisture-wicking capabilities – tactile features that needed to come through with clarity, precision, and visual impact.
Our challenge was to achieve two things: recreate the fabric’s qualities convincingly in CGI, and to make those visuals feel native to the live-action edit. This meant working closely with the FIGS team to match the live-action environments, lighting, and rhythm so the CGI felt integrated at all times.
Antistatic
For the antistatic sequence, we built a simulated fabric surface and sent a frantic but tightly choreographed flow of electrical pulses across it. As they moved, the pulses illuminated individual fibres, giving them the look of a static charge being repelled.

Four-way stretch and moisture-wicking
To create a four-way stretch, we used aerodynamic simulations with animated anchor points to manipulate the lightweight fabric – drawing from live-action references of bubble gum and human movement.
To extend that idea, we created hyper-real visualisations of liquid droplets and vaporised moisture that moved in sync with the fabric – allowing us to present a scientific process through visuals that still felt tactile, immediate, and rooted in the real world.
Antimicrobial
We continued to play with a recurring theme in our work, shifts in scale, moving into an extreme macro view of the fibres through a microscope-like lens. With a scientific edge, we playfully show the repelling action of the fabric, acting on stylised microbes and liquid particles. Speed and motion manipulation integrates the sequence within the film’s contemporary edit style, helping the CGI feel embedded within the wider campaign.

Technical weave
With an organic, generative growth pattern, we can showcase the ultra fine fibres of the textile. Here, we framed and animated the lightweight movement of the fabric to create a landscape of detailed textile – one that feels soft and natural, but also technical and exact in its finish.

R&D process
After rounds of R&D, we settled on a blend of Houdini simulations and Cinema 4D native workflows, combined with Redshift texturing and lighting – a pipeline that gave us the control needed to handle both the material's structural detail and its dynamic behaviour. We finished the final visuals with layered compositing and VFX, cut together into a dynamic edit.
