Bolder Rebrand
Designed to Evolve
Since 2007, Bolder has been delivering high-end 3D and motion work. As we approached 20 years as a studio, it felt like the right moment to reflect on how far we’d come and what comes next. To mark the occasion, we partnered with our friends at Monday Nights to create an identity designed to stand the test of time. Once a Brighton-based studio, now a remote team working globally, we wanted the new look to capture not only where we are now, but also the values and perspective that have shaped us along the way.

The Brief:
Bolder, not Louder
Our old identity no longer reflected the standard of the work we were putting into the world. Rather than creating something louder or trend-based, we wanted something simple, refined and quietly confident – a look that could frame the work without competing with it. The result is an identity built to express Bolder in motion – shaped by its history, but designed for constant evolution.
A new logo made from Momentum
The anchor of the new Bolder identity, the logo mark – a sculptural ‘B’ form, rendered in 3D – rotates in an endless loop. The mark is abstract at rest and fully legible in motion: a nod to the studio’s practice of revealing complexity with clarity. The static icon is taken from a single, slightly off-axis frame within the motion sequence, allowing it to retain a sense of dimensionality and momentum, even when still.

A wordmark rooted in Geometry
Building on the sculptural qualities of the logo mark, the wordmark takes cues from the form of the ‘B’ while adopting a sleeker, more traditional structure. Each letterform was custom-crafted from the logo’s own geometry – with weight carefully distributed to give it a contemporary, established feel.

A flexible grid system that frames the work
Inspired by the technicality of 3D software, a modular grid system reveals process and structure. It is designed to hold the full range of our work – from stylised films to more commercial briefs – without hierarchy. It flexes across formats while giving every project the same level of care.
One of the most effective uses of the grid is as a framing device for imagery. The Box Highlight and Corner Highlight are used to direct attention, isolate detail and create focus, while keeping the overall composition clean and considered.
Colour Palette: Designed with Purpose
The colour palette is deliberately pared back. Black and white form the foundation, with grey used for variation, allowing our work to remain front and centre. A bright green-yellow – Grello – is used sparingly as an accent colour, introducing moments of energy and emphasis, particularly in active states.
Typography: Crafted to Communicate
We introduced Erode, designed by Indian Type Foundry, as our primary typeface to bring a distinctly editorial quality to the identity. Its open counters and clear stroke contrast the refined craft and technical precision that define our work, while its rounded serifs ensure the typography still feels warm and approachable. That balance was important to us: we wanted the brand to feel expert, but never cold.
The Website: A New Home for the Work
One of the biggest shifts of the rebrand was the redesign of our website. The new site gives our work a stronger, more intentional platform: cinematic visuals, structured compositions and clean typography combine to create a presentation that feels both immersive and precise.

Our Voice: Clear, Human, Precise
Alongside the visual identity, Monday Nights helped refine the Bolder voice through a set of principles grounded in our values. Everything Bolder does is rooted in technical precision and genuine love of the craft. But the way we talk about it is deliberately human. Clear, honest communication that lets the work do the talking.

Our brand system and 3D logo expand into a suite of sculptural assets. Animations, compositions and branded moments built to show our expressive side when needed.
