Assos of Switzerland Targa
Targa Shorts Launch Film
Renowned for its innovation, luxurious quality, and ergonomic precision, ASSOS of Switzerland is a high-performance cycling apparel brand with a leading reputation in the elite cycling community. We created a motion-led film, blending live action, CGI, and fabric simulations to bring ASSOS’s Superskin range – and the launch of its “fastest bib shorts yet” – to life.

Engineered for speed
Through rigorous research, development, and testing, ASSOS creates some of the most innovative and durable race-level apparel, capable of withstanding the highest levels of endurance and intensity.
For the launch of their Superskin Equipe RSR Targa Bib Shorts, ASSOS tasked Bolder with creating a sequence that transforms their rider into the ultimate speed machine, aided by the product’s powerful combination of advanced compressive textiles with second-skin aerodynamics.
Our creative focused on illustrating not only Superskin’s capabilities, but also the intensity and ambition that drive elite cyclists.

HERO FILM THAT BLENDS CGI WITH LIVE ACTION
We showcase the rider’s transformation through a highly stylised film that draws on cinematic references, blending CGI and live-action to manipulate and contort him within a gritty, futuristic brand world.
We filmed live-action shots at Wolfsburg’s Phaeno Science Centre, where Zaha Hadid’s architectural details – the space’s unique topography and concrete curves – informed the sequence’s design.
Pattern became a recurring motif where we drew parallels between the product’s signature padding layout and the grid-like lighting of the undercroft.

the aesthetic
The use of black-and-white grading and dynamic lighting culminates in a tense sequence featuring a pulsating rhythm. This aesthetic not only reinforces but also enhances the established brand style we’ve developed through a series of partnerships.

high-speed, high-performance and slow-motion intensity
Centred on the rider’s stamina and performance, the film oscillates between moments of high-speed, high-performance and slow-motion intensity, achieved with a Wave camera, which allowed us to shoot at 400+ frames per second as well as experiment across multiple angles and positions throughout the location.
For additional footage, we used a controlled green-screen shoot – enhanced studio lighting, added light shifts, animated reflections, and composited backgrounds, all while applying a heavy grading approach – to ensure consistency throughout the film.
post production
In our post-production pipeline, we added dynamic 3D elements to the live-action environment to generate manipulations of the footage to enhance the sense of speed. Bespoke digital effects tear and warp the rider’s speed.
CGI gives us a macro-level intro to the fibres and fabrics, with dramatic simulations visualising the fabric weaving directly onto the rider’s skin, creating a ‘superskin’ effect—an aerodynamic, superhero-like second skin.
